The Grimoire Binding

Custom Tattoo Binding Clamshell Designed By A. von Hemmersbach. (11 x 8.75 x 1.75.) Black ink and holy water embedded into fine leather. 

Front cover depicting a black rooster perched upon, and surrounded by writhing snake body, amidst iconography found within the grimoire. Back cover depicts candle and candle holder with the same snake body, and several other magic amulets. “ GRIMOIRE” on spine. Artist signature on rear cover. 

Interior of clamshell has dark inset book well, red hinge bottom, and silk strap to provide easy lift out.

This work deals with the most hated and feared of demons found within Judeo-Christian traditions, such as Lucifer and Astaroth. Its reputation was built up by famed 19th century French occultist Eliphas Levi, who described it as horrible, wicked, and profane. Honorius amalgamates elements from other grimoires (such as the Key of Solomon and the Grimorium Verum) with Catholic rituals.

A grimoire is a textbook of magic, including instructions on how to create magical objects like talismans and amulets, how to perform magical spells, charms and divinations, and how to summon or invoke supernatural entities such as angels, spirits, and demons. In many cases, the books themselves are believed to be imbued with magical powers.
